Little Beauties, Miracles Everywhere

An unexpected kiss on the back of the neck

at the kitchen table,

A gentle touch on the knee

asking nothing but giving all,

The unexpected flowers when it is not

a birthday, anniversary, or Mother’s Day,

A first-born son texts a parent,

“Thank you for taking care of yourself,”

Children writing/reciting poetry

as missiles fly above the roof,

Another group of children singing

to drown out the sound of drones piercing the air,

An active father/former athlete loses his legs in a motorcycle accident

and still finds a way to help host his son’s birthday party less than two months later,

A doctor lays the scalpel down, picks up a pen, pursues her dreams

to become an award-winning poet with medicine for the soul,

The soot of destruction blackens the skies

yet the sun still rises daily

everywhere—

All this to say that amid the chaos and tragedies bombarding the media and fanning flames of despair on this planet, there are little beauties and miracles everywhere, EVERYWHERE. The ones mentioned above involve people that I know. Yes, I know them. These moments are not always far away in another land. These moments are closer than we often believe, little beauties and miracles everywhere…

I am on a mission to sharpen my lens and find these gems, collect as many as I can daily. I will not let the taunting of tragedies make me forget these precious beings, precious moments, this precious life. I will remember that there is always something to celebrate no matter how quiet or fleeting the joy. And when I cannot find such beauties, miracles elsewhere, I will create them to at least chip at the chaos.

How about you?

Are you looking closely? Did you miss a miracle or moment of beauty right before your very eyes? I bet one is just waiting for you to notice…

Many thanks to my family and friends who inspired this post and keep me motivated!

As always,

Be Joyful,

Be Inspired,

Be creative,

Tamara

P.S.  I purposely chose the photo here to beckon you to look closer.  Is it snow or sand, sunrise or sunset, stateside or abroad?  We find the little miracles, beauties when we look deeply.
